Blokify iOS app aims to make modeling for 3D printers accessible to kids.

With new 3D printing modeling systems coming out, an new time-consuming affair is coming out with Blokify’s an ios app which is coming out this December. to make it easy for the youth and students to design and print their 3d models. Users can use their iPad or iPhone. Like magic for children watching a design materialise from the 3d Printer.

“Schools are receiving 3D printers either through grants or just buying them outright, but the teachers aren’t trained in CAD,’ Since our software is super simple, the teachers can easily learn it and pass the knowledge on to their students. We aren’t making educational software but would love to see our product used in schools and believe its a perfect match.”

3D Printing comes to Adtech 2013. Which Astro 3D Space Ltd visits on 19th September 2013.

Additive manufacturing or 3D printing[1] is  the innovative process of making 3D object of of a digital model from any shape. 3D printing is achieved using an additive process, where successive layers of material are laid down in different shapes.[2] 3D printing is the future of traditional machining techniques, which mostly rely on the removal of material by methods such as cutting or drilling (subtractiveprocesses).

“A materials printer usually performs 3D printing processes using digital technology. The first working 3D printer was created in 1984 by Chuck Hull of 3D Systems Corp.[3] Since the start of the 21st century there has been a large growth in the sales of these machines, and their price has dropped substantially.[4] According to Wohlers Associates, a consultancy, the market for 3D printers and services was worth $2.2 billion worldwide in 2012, up 29% from 2011.[“

“The 3D printing technology is used for both prototyping and distributed manufacturing with applications in architecture, construction (AEC), industrial design, automotive, aerospace, military, engineering, civil engineering, dental and medical industries, biotech (human tissue replacement), fashion, footwear, jewelry, eyewear, education, geographic information systems, food, and many other fields. It has been speculated[6] that 3D printing may become a mass market item because open source 3D printing can easily offset their capital costs by enabling consumers to avoid costs associated with purchasing common household objects.[7]

On Thursday 19th September 2013 I attended Adtech and I came across one of the earliest companies to offer 3D Printing: Thingmaker. At the show was making 3D Prints of visiting professionals. Working on the basis of lasers the machine makes a circular movement around a seated person to create a 3D Print. For more information on Thingmaker go to their web-site: www.thingmaker.co.uk
